Kailis Organic Olive Groves last weekend won the Best Organic Food Product and Judges Choice Award at Organic Expo 2008. The 100% organic olive oil company won the award ahead of a host of other great organic products showcased at the Expo.
Other organic food awards announced at the show went to Blue Hills Honey and African Pacific. Blue Hills won the Best New Organic Product category for their Tasmanian leatherwood honey, while African Pacific's Nui organic coconut flour received the prize for Most Innovative Organic Product.
Kailis Organic, which farms over 700ha of certified organic olive groves in the south-west of Western Australia, received 27 domestic awards last year alone and has also been lauded internationally with prizes at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition and the International Olive Oil Competition in Armonia, Italy.
Mark Kailis, Managing Director of Kailis Organic Olive Groves, was excited about the company being recognised at Australia's biggest organic expo. "We are committed to producing the best organic extra virgin olive oil in the world and want everyone interested in experiencing the pure, green, fresh difference of our oils to ... try it," he said.
Kailis Organic are the largest organic olive oil group in Australia and among the largest in the world. Stocked in specialty retailers as well as in David Jones within Australia they have now also managed to enter the UK and Singapore markets.
The Organic Expo was hailed a great success, with more than 8500 visitors over the course of three days. And, with more than 200 exhibitors from around the world showcasing thousands of products, it represented the largest organic expo ever seen in Oceania.
